Near the end of each month, we’re going to make a post on our blog recommending some great upcoming shows around the Valley! For a full list of all the awesome stuff happening next month, be sure to visit SilverPlatter.info!

LINDSAY’S PICKS
July 3 – Taylor Upsahl at The Crescent Lounge with Lost In The Sun and Le Zets
Keep your eye on Taylor Upsahl, my new favorite local youngster. She’s super young and even more talented. She’s releasing her second album this Friday at the Crescent Ballroom with a backing band you’ll recognize. Plus old local favorites Lost In The Sun are back together and opening the show.

July 16 – Helio Sequence at Crescent Ballroom
These guys!!! I love it so much when a duo can bust more ass and sound more exciting than any full-sized/superfluous band. This duo has been at it on Sub Pop for longer than I can remember. They are responsible for soundtracking many a memory of mine. Their latest album is great and I know it’ll be even better live!

JEFF’S PICKS
July 17 – Twin Ponies EP Release at The Rebel Lounge with Celebration Guns, Lips & Daisy Face
Twin Ponies are probably my favorite local band in town right now. Their new material they’ve been debuting from this EP has all sounded amazing – can’t wait to have a copy at home.

July 21 – Future Death at The Trunk Space with Dent & Red Tank!
Future Death is an awesome energetic experimental group from Austin. I saw them just a couple months ago at Last Exit and I’m excited for the opportunity to open for them this time around!

July 27 – Crime Lab at The Rebel Lounge with B.O.T.S.
Crime Lab is a rad punk outfit from Albuquerque – playing their first show in Arizona this month. I’m stoked to finally check out B.O.T.S. too!

DARIO’S PICKS
July 8th – Juan Wauters at Valley Bar with Roar, Bear State and Lonna Kelley
Juan Wauters jumps between lo-fi folk rock, reminiscent of Daniel Johnston or Jonathan Richman, and a lazy psych-rock vibe that’s somewhere between Velvet Underground and Caetano Veloso. Excited to see how he presents this, live. Also, the local support is made up of all favorites, in my book.

July 16th – Helio Sequence at The Crescent Ballroom
I’m with Lindsay on this one! Their newest album has really reignited my interest in this band and I can’t wait to see them, again, with a whole new set of songs to enjoy.

August 2nd – Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Crescent Ballroom
Ok, this one isn’t in July, but it’s right at the beginning of August, so I thought I should give you enough notice. This will be the third time I’ve seen this band, but I’m sure, like the last two times, it will be like seeing them for the first time. Sometimes one show is enough for some bands. But, if they continue to evolve and mature the way UMO has, you can sign me up for another!
