A bonus byproduct of the recent big rearrange of our shop is that we now have more room to hold shows! Our lack of space never really stopped us before… In the past, our tiny Central Phoenix store has hosted in-store performances from bands like Wye Oak, Dirty Projectors, Blitzen Trapper and No Age. We were maybe a little more hesitant, considering we didn’t really have an ideal set up, but now with the added room and panoramic views, we’re anxious to try out the new layout and pack the room full of live music lovers and kick ass bands. This Wednesday, we’ll be hosting two of our favorite local acts, Bear State & Dent, seeing them off as they get ready to hit the road through Arizona and California.

In our 27 years, Stinkweeds has been a stop for many bands, often in the early stages of eventually successful careers. We believe a good record store should function as a resource for music that doesn’t always make it out to the general public. Sometimes those bands are national touring acts, sometimes they’re local. What they have in common is that we believe in what they’re doing, and want to share them with all of you. Check out the “History” page on our website for flyers and stories of past in-stores. You might be surprised to see names like Elliott Smith, Blonde Redhead, Sleater-Kinney, Low, Smog, and many more.

Bear State and Dent are playing on February 24th
Music starts at 8pm. $5 donation suggested and appreciated

See you on Wednesday!
