MONO – Scarlett Holliday 10″ (Temporary Residence)

After COVID-19 first swept the world in 2020, Mono felt compelled to make a special little gift for the Christmas holiday. The accompanying message was simple: “Wishing everyone good health, happiness, and good cheer in the new year.” Originally made at home in isolation, this digital-only release consisted of two new Mono songs: “Scarlet Holliday” and “First Winter.” Now, to commemorate the 2021 holiday season, Mono has reworked and expanded Scarlet Holliday into a very special 3-song EP (now including the brand new song, “Epilogue”). Recorded at home and at Electrical Audio by longtime collaborator, Steve Albini, newly mixed by John McEntire, and mastered by Bob Weston, Scarlet Holliday is finally being released into the world on limited-edition 10″ vinyl, as well as all digital formats. In their unflappable determination to shine light into the darkness, Mono explains: “These songs were written with the idea of new hope for the new year since this time has become unforeseeably dark for many in the world.”

BEACH BOYS – Sail On Sailor CD/2LP (Capitol)

Sail On Sailor [2LP+7in EP] collection celebrates the landmark 1972 albums Carl And The Passions and Holland. Includes extensive liner notes and the original “Mount Vernon and Fairway” 7inch EP from Holland, unavailable on vinyl since the 1970s. Both albums are fully remastered.

WHITE BUFFALO – Year Of The Dark Horse CD/LP (Spinefarm)

Year of the Dark Horse is the eighth studio album from White Buffalo (aka singer/songwriter Jake Smith). The Oregon-born, Southern California-bred artist completed the record with Grammy-winning producer Jay Joyce at his Neon Cross studio in Nashville. From highlights “Kingdom for a Fool,” “52 Card Pickup,” and “Donna,” the album offers an invigorating and wonderfully unpredictable listen.

JERRY GARCIA – Garcia (50th Anniversary) Gold LP (ATO)

Garcia celebrates its golden year in 2022! Expanding on Garcia’s first solo release, this 2LP edition features outtakes from the original sessions on Sides 3 & 4. Recorded almost entirely by Garcia with assistance from Bill Kreutzmann and Robert Hunter, six of the songs became staples in the Grateful Dead’s repertoire. 50th Anniversary Limited Edition 2LP on 180-gram “gold nugget” vinyl includes a liner note essay from David Frick.

JAMIROQUAI – High Times Singles 92-06 (Sony Legacy)

High Times: Singles 1992 -2006 is the band’s greatest-hits collection, originally released in November 2006 and selling to date a huge 2.5 million copies around the world. This is the first time it is available on vinyl and includes the addition of ‘You Give Me Something’, a track that does not appear on the original CD release. This comes as a numbered, limited edition deluxe double LP on 180gm green marbled vinyl with gatefold sleeve, spotgloss slipcase, printed inner sleeves, slipmat and brand-new liner notes by Jay Kay.

BLUE MITCHELL – Bring It Home To Me LP -Tone Poet Series LP (Blue Note)

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in gatefold jacket. Blue Mitchell was a member of Horace Silver’s quintet before he began recording his own albums as leader for Blue Note through the 1960s. His 1966 album, Bring It Home to Me, is a bluesy and soulful hard bop date featuring the trumpeter with Junior Cook, Harold Mabern, Gene Taylor, and Billy Higgins. Blue Note Tone Poet Series features all-analog remastering.

UNSANE – Unsane LP [Reissue/1991] (Lamb Unlmited)

By 1991 Unsane had perfected a unique “extreme” sound that established them as an important part of the NYC noise scene. With a couple singles and an unreleased 12″ EP (“Improvised Munitions” eventually released in 2020), vocalist and guitarist Chris Spencer explains “We got offered a CBGB’s show with Sonic Youth, although we were playing the graveyard slot which meant that we were to play after them. They played a crazy, super-long set and almost everyone had left as it was past 2 am, but of the 10 or 12 people still there, Gerard Cosloy from Matador [Records] had stayed. He offered us a deal that night.” Decades after its initial release, it’s impossible to deny or underestimate the musical evolution of the 90’s without including Unsane. Combining abrasive noise-rock with corrosive and powerful distorted vocals, furious pulsations of bass and drums, Unsane had broken down the doors of noise-rock for the 90’s. Available on CD, and on vinyl for the first time since 1991.
