TORI AMOSLittle Earthquakes [Reissue/1992] 2xLP (Atlantic)
Tori Amos became the voice of a generation of young girls when she delivered her first solo record in 1992. Each of the tracks on Little Earthquakes painted an evocative picture, and the album delivered five singles: “Crucify”, “Silent All These Years”, “Winter”, “China”, “Me And A Gun”. The album has already received the deluxe treatment in 2006, and this double-LP is the first time the tracks have been remastered for this format.

ANTI-FLAG– Lies They Tell Our Children CD/LP (Spinefarm)
Pittsburgh’s Anti-Flag has made it abundantly clear for nearly 30 years that their message and presence will always feel relevant at any given time. Never afraid to offer raw and unfiltered critiques on the failings of the modern political landscape, or position themselves across multiple genres, Anti-Flag is committed to constant evolution. Now, with their 13th studio album Lies They Tell Our Children, Anti-Flag re-emerges as energetic as ever. [A limited-edition white color vinyl pressing is available.]

SEA AND CAKEMoonlight Butterfly LP reissue (Thrill Jockey)
Limited reissue on opaque tan vinyl. The Moonlight Butterfly has the core elements of the utterly unique Sea and Cake sound, while introducing a more experimental approach to the song’s textures and structures. The songs are more extended in form and cinematic in feel. The band’s singular guitar-based pop sound is filtered through pattern based ideas that slowly morph the linear into the modal. The album is filled with extended instrumental passages that bear the markers of Prekop’s recent solo explorations of analog synthesizers. The song ‘Inn Keeping’, for example, focuses on the synthesizer as the main armature of the song, a constant to play with and against.

FELA RANSOME-KUTI & THE AFRICA ’70Afrodisiac [Reissue/1972] 2xLP (Knitting Factory)

Like its predecessors in the series, this double LP edition is on color vinyl; the A/B side is green marble and C/D side is on red marble. The songs on Afrodisiac were tracks that Fela and the Nigeria 70 (Later Africa 70) re-recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1972 after they had become hits in Nigeria.

JOHN FRUSCIANTE Inside Of Emptiness LP (Record Collection)

His solo recordings include elements ranging from experimental rock and ambient music to New Wave and Electronica.

SCOLOHOFOOh! LP reissue (Blue Note)
Scolohofo – the supergroup made up of guitarist John Scofield, saxophonist Joe Lovano, bassist Dave Holland, and drummer Al Foster – first played together as a band in 1999, but the musicians’ associations stretched back decades and this masterful 2002 album of originals brims with comradery. FLOATING POINTS2022 12” (Ninja Tune)
Four new tracks from Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points. “Grammar”, “Vocoder” and “Problems” were met with widespread praise including a Best New Track from Pitchfork and a glowing review from Resident Advisor describing Shepherd as “one of electronic music’s undisputed MVPs”. “Someone Close” changes track completely, something Shepherd has done effortlessly across his career, capping off a run of releases that have showcased the many strings to his bow yet still holds together seamlessly.

SUN RAProphet LP (Modern Harmonic)
What happens when a Prophet meets a Prophet? The answer lies within these grooves. Amongst the hundreds of recordings issued by Sun Ra and his Arkestra, under their various guises, the majority were recorded in concert or in makeshift studios such as their early 1960s set-up at NYC’s Choreographer’s Workshop. Beyond those, roughly 22 albums were recorded at Variety Recording Studio in New York’s Times Square. However, on August 25, 1986, Sun Ra and cohorts entered Mission Control, a state-of-the-art 24-track studio north of Boston, which was teeming with electronic keyboards and otherworldly sound generators, including Sequential Circuits legendary Prophet-5 and Prophet-10. Created using microprocessors, a then-new technological advance, under the auspices of engineer Dave Smith in 1978, the Prophet-5 revolutionized electronic music as the first polyphonic and, most importantly, programmable synthesizer. Ra was intrigued by the Prophet (surely by the instrument as well as by the name).
