This week, we’re following the lead of some of our favorite music publications. Early this week, NPR Music posted a list of 150 Greatest Albums Made By Women. It didn’t take long for other publications to follow suit. So, we thought we would get in on the fun and list Stinkweeds’ 150 + Favorite Female Artists/Female Fronted Bands. Of course, we don’t need to qualify the talent of female musicians. The music industry just happens to be a bit of boys club at times (let’s face it, the world can be a bit of boys club.) So, for the sake of doing history a service and giving recognition where recognition is deserved and often overlooked, we give you SOME of our favorite female musicians. We didn’t include favorite albums because we believe these artists have entire careers worth exploring. We urge you to both, give a listen to each and everyone on this list and to share some of your favorite female artists with us.
