Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition of Cake’s second studio album Fashion Nugget, originally released in 1996. This 14-track album includes hits “The Distance,” “Frank Sinatra,” and “I Will Survive”.
METRIC – Formentera CD (Metric Music Int’l)
2022 album from the Canadian alt-rock band. Formentera is the follow-up to their 2018 album Art of Doubt. Named for an idyllic island near Ibiza off the coast of Spain, Formentera is a place that, for Metric, only existed on a page in a “dream destinations” travel book that lay open on a desk in the new recording studio that guitarist Jimmy Shaw built in 2020, in a rural hamlet north of Toronto. This is the setting where the band’s eighth album took shape. Metric’s sound is both genre-defying and genre-defining.
INDIGO GIRLS – Look Long CD/LP (Rounder)
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are Indigo Girls. Together they write, arrange, record and perform music which over the course of 40 years has become a vital part of the lives of their legion of devoted fans around the world. Their first new studio album in 5 years, Look Long, is a testament to their storied career. Produced by John Reynolds at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studio in England, Look Long, features 11 brand new tracks all written by Ray and Saliers!
BANKS – Serpentina LP (Her Name Is Banks)
Limited white colored vinyl LP pressing. 2022 release, the fourth album from the platinum-certified artist. Banks enters previously uncharted territory in every sense-from sound to lyrics to visuals, and everything in-between. “In the past, I’ve been really tight and controlled, and I don’t feel like that right now,” says Banks. “I just feel more wild and free.” Featuring already released singles ‘The Devil’ and ‘Skinnydipped,’ the 13-track Serpentina started taking form in the early days of quarantine, when Banks decided to use the time under lockdown to master the production software Ableton. Despite being heavily involved with the production across all of her previous three records, it was her first time fully in control. “It felt like opening up a whole new world,” says Banks. “It feels like a journey listening to it from the beginning to end.”

Found Light may be Laura Veirs’ 12th studio album, but it also, in many ways, feels like her debut. If 2020’s My Echo – written and mixed just prior to her 2019 split from her longtime husband, her longtime producer, and the father of her two sons – was her divorce album, Found Light is about what comes after. Limited signed copies available! The Deslondes is a five-piece band from New Orleans. The band splits up songwriting and lead vocal duties among its five members, continuing its democratic ethos and musical versatility. Multiple members have released solo recordings between their sophomore release, Hurry Home (2016) and their latest release Ways & Means but throughout the time between albums the Deslondes continued to build on their inventive take on New Orleans country and R&B. Ways & Means finds the band leaning on the country-folk of their debut along with the sometimes-psychedelic, electrified gospel-soul sound of Hurry Home. The sound will continue to draw comparisons to the country-funkiness of The Band, Link Wray, and others but Ways & Means is the sound of a band that understands the history of American music, while embracing their own contemporary approach.

Produced by Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Kacey Musgraves), Local Natives’ fourth studio album and follow-up to 2016’s Sunlit Youth finds the Silver Lake, Los Angeles outfit asking the existential question, “With all of the chaos in the world, where do you find your shelter?” Violet Street‘s modern production, lush guitars and iridescent harmonies add up to form one paranoiac pop record that’s as blissful as it is evocative of the L.A. local it was recorded. This Deluxe Edition includes the album on white color vinyl and a bonus red color 10″ single for “Munich”, plus a poster and book.

After several years pursuing careers apart from one another, the original line-up of the revered Cap’n Jazz reunited to form Chicago’s art-funk post-rock groove outfit, Owls, featuring Tim Kinsella (Joan Of Arc), Mike Kinsella (Joan Of Arc, American Football), Victor Villarreall (Ghosts And Vodka), and Sam Zu-rick (Joan Of Arc, Ghosts And Vodka), Owls retained the obtuse structures of their previous bands while sonically stripping down to the basics of pure simple rock. TIM HEIDECKER – High School LP (Space Bomb)
Since 2016, Tim Heidecker has chronicled the annals of adulthood on a series of supreme singer-songwriter albums. The crushing devastation of divorce and the existential malaise of middle-age, the minutiae of home ownership and the ritual of family vacation, child rearing and global warming: Heidecker has handled it all with humor and heart. BAD BRAINS – Bad Brains Punk Note Edition LP (Org)
Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as The Yellow Tape because of its yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the five-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band’s first release of anything longer than a single. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains’ recordings. This Punk Note edition comes with alternate packaging artwork from designer John Yates (Stealworks). The artwork is a nod to Reid Miles and Francis Wolff, and their amazing work at the Blue Note label.

Space Ghost is her debut solo album, recorded with Jeff Ziegler (Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs) in Philadelphia.

For the past two decades, Toast has been whispered about in collectors’ circles in hushed tones, as Neil Young has dropped pieces of information about it here and there, especially as it contains three never-before-released songs. In 2021, in his online daily newspaper, The Times Contrarian, Young wrote about the album in-depth. “The music of Toast is about a relationship,” he said. “There is a time in many relationships that go bad, a time long before the breakup, where it dawns on one of the people, maybe both, that it’s over. This was that time.” Many songs share a bluesy, jazz-tinged vibe as a common thread. Three solid rockers are interspersed in the mix. Other songs are long with extensive explorations between verses, a Crazy Horse trademark, kind of like a down-played “Tonight’s The Night,” except these songs deal directly with love and loss, not drugs.

DELICATE STEVE – After Hours CD (ANTI-)
Written and recorded on a 1966 Fender Stratocaster that reignited his love for the instrument, Delicate Steve’s captivating new album, After Hours, marks a first for Steve Marion, an earnest, easygoing collection that revels in the simple joys of plugging in and playing. The songs are sweet and breezy here, pairing vintage soul grooves with mesmerizing, wordless melodies, and Marion’s production work is suitably subtle and restrained, stepping back in all the right places to let the album’s masterful performances speak for themselves. After Hours is Marion’s warmest, most magnetic work to date, an inviting, immediately accessible album that manages to balance thoughtful introspection and carefree bliss in equal measure. [Vinyl edition due July 29.]
