At the heart of this trilogy is how technology and its advances throughout the last century in radio, film, television, and the internet serve as central parts of our lives. In acoustic space, people hear from every direction at once, the center is everywhere and there is no border.

MURDER BY DEATH – Spell/Bound LP (Many Hats)
Some bands build catalogs over the years; Murder by Death has built a universe. Over more than two decades together, they have released eight deeply immersive albums, each one subtly broadening their sonic and thematic limits, and exploring what the band is truly capable of. On their ninth album, Spell/Bound, the band has taken their largest leap forward into lavish, spaced-out territory only hinted at on previous records. “Sonically, the direction we explored was more in the vein of almost trip-hop, like Massive Attack and Portishead, where we were trying to lean into a vibe that was chill but dark. We wanted it to be a record that was lush but not necessarily a wall of sound,” says frontman Adam Turla.

Three CD set containing the eponymous solo albums written, performed, and produced by Paul McCartney from 1970, 1980, and 2020. Includes 3 CDs with 3 limited edition photo prints and an introduction from Paul housed in a beautiful slipcase box. Also available on 3 LPs on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with 3 limited edition photo prints and an introduction from Paul housed in a beautiful slipcase box.

Revelators Sound System is the collaborative musical project of MC Taylor (Hiss Golden Messenger) and Cameron Ralston (Spacebomb House Band). A meditation on community that caroms from root-down avant-funk to solitary cosmic minimalism and twinkling dubby ambience. Most importantly it is a deeply emotional record, the running soundtrack to a world in confusion. [An indie store exclusive opaque yellow color vinyl pressing is available.]

At the time of release Liars were Melbourne born Angus Andrew (vocals & pedals), Aaron Hemphill from LA (guitar and drum machine) and Nebraskians Pat Nature (bass & synthbox) and drummer Ron Albertson.
MAVIS STAPLES / LEVON HELM – Carry Me Home 2LP (Epitaph)
Staples came to Woodstock, NY to perform as part of Helm’s renowned Midnight Ramble series, and the ensuing concert-available now for the first time on the rousing new ANTI- Records release Carry Me Home would mark a personal high watermark for both artists. In October 1990, Lee Chesnut, music director of WAPW in Atlanta, played the song “Wicked Game” repeatedly over two weeks after hearing a version on the soundtrack from the 1990 David Lynch film Wild at Heart. “Wicked Game” was released as a single, and the album reached the U.S. Top 10 peaking at number 7 on Billboard by April 1991, garnering sales of more than 500,000 copies. PRIMUS – Conspiranoid CD/LP (ATO)
The first, completely original Primus music in over a decade comes in the form of a 3-song EP. It kicks off with the 12-minute epic, “Conspiranoia,” exploring the absurdity and darkness bubbling up in the contemporary world, perpetuated, as frontman Les Claypool says, “by anyone with a slight hint of web design aptitude.” He goes on, “Because all 3 songs were bred in an odd time of divide, confusion, angst, frustration, and social senility, the title Conspiranoid seemed appropriate.” Also available on limited edition white vinyl.

FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY – Corrosion LP (Cleopatra)

ANDY BEY – Experience and Judgement LP (Real Gone)
Limited sea blue colored vinyl LP pressing. Crate diggers have long dug this 1973 soul jazz classic on the Atlantic label… it’s far more than your usual jazz vocal record. Vocalist/pianist Andy Bey imbues every number here with a spiritual depth and soulful intensity, yet Experience and Judgment is a relaxing, uplifting listen reminiscent of Bill Withers or Roy Ayers. Some credit for this album’s unique vibe must also be given to producer William S. “Bill” Fischer (Eugene McDaniels, Herbie Mann), who composes a couple tunes here and lends his distinctive touch on keyboards. Whether your taste in jazz runs to free, funk, or even quiet storm, Experience and Judgment delivers.

LILLY HIATT – Lately LP (New West)
Limited pink and black colored vinyl LP pressing. 2022 release. “Lately is a record I wrote to share some of where I’ve been with you. Whenever songs happen for me, they are like photographs of time. Last year was tough. That’s an understatement for certain. I have always felt lonely, but the irony of that is, I was not alone at all in that space. Everyone had lost something. As a means of keeping sane, I started to write songs. The inspiration was occurring from simple moments. I missed my friends. I missed my family. I felt unified in knowing that I was not on my own in that mentalityI realized that my heart was full of everything I loved and that would carry me forward for the time being. Eventually we would all get back to one another. Now that we are beginning to, I will be thrilled to share and play these songs for you.”
